Country Getaway in Waco, Texas

What a fun weekend we had in Texas!

Who knew there was so much to do in such a small cute town. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

First stop was a famous Burger place called Twisted Root where instead of calling your order by a number, they call it by the name of a famous person. Our Waygu beef burger crusted with dijon mustard and covered in cheese was called by Whitney Houston (RIP) and our Vegan burger and Funnel Cake Milkshake was called out by the name "Darth Vader".

Housed in an old barn with a bar in the center featuring some of Texas' best beers on draft, this was prime choice as an A/C laden lunch spot on a hot 100 degree day.

Next stop was the Silo district which featured an adorable home decor store opened by Waco's famous couple Joanna and Chip Gains from the TV show Fixer Upper. The beautiful candles, rugs and kitchen goods were just the beginning.

Surrounding the store was a huge outdoor space complete with food trucks selling juice out of a coconut, giant ice cream cones and a huge artificial lawn scattered with Bean bag chairs for relaxing but plenty of space for kids to bounce around a soccer ball.

We arrived at our barn style air bnb tucked away in the hills and it was *gorgeous*. I couldn’t help but think how great the Diamante would have looked on that rocking chair.

Beautiful Cozy Interior with a view of the fishing pond

There was a pond on site (that you could fish in!) a large deck off the back, a huge kitchen where the ten of us cooked breakfast together (ok I may have slept in but they did a darn fine job!) and of course the best part--a fire pit where we made s’mores and laughed till our rubs hurt.

Wouldn't be complete without a firepit

The next day we headed to a water park called BSR which hosts the country's longest man made lazy river. The park's other main feature was a trio of epic waterslides called the royal flush that shoots you upwards at the end to prep you for the perfect cannonball into the lake.

This is our third trip there and we always have the privilege of seeing something new and amazing. From art installations that easily rival those in New York City, to haunted battlefields filled with bright wildflowers and the absolute coolest zoo I’ve ever been to, Texas has so much to offer and we can’t wait to go back!
